Split

Split is the economic and administrative centre of Dalmatia, with more than 200,000 citizens. It is also a spring board for all of those who want to explore the Croatian coast and islands. The city emerged in the third century A.D. , at the time when the Roman emperor Diocletian ordered a vacation estate palace to be built at the location of today's city core.

Split offers lots of authentic mediterranean charm: the pine forest of Marjan, the stir of the city streets, the scent of the sea and the salt, as well as the sound of the Dalmatian «klapa» (male and female a-capella choirs).
